KAFASI provides residents of Kenosha County with programs that meet vital needs within the community. Aging Services programs provide nutritious meals, affordable transportation, respite for caregivers, memory care programming, and solutions to loneliness for home bound people. KAFASI is doing all we can to keep staff and volunteers safe while upping our delivery of essential services in response to COVID-19:
IAA phone lines remain open
Family Service staff continue parenting and support via phone, but are still doing critical safety checks face to face
Senior Services are still offering rides (VTS) for medical and grocery. We have approx. 50-75 rides still happening weekly
Senior nutrition is still delivering daily hot Meals on Wheels and has weekly frozen meal pick up sites throughout the County. Anyone 60 or older can pick up 5 frozen meals complete with juice and crackers. We do ask people to call a day ahead at 658-3508 to register, but no one is turned away. There is no fee, but we are requesting those who can to donate $3.00/ meal.
- Tuesday at KAFASI
- Wednesday at Westosha
- Thursday at Parkside Baptist
- Friday at New Life Bible in Twin Lakes
Last week we also coordinated with ADRC to deliver 1,000 extra frozen meals to homebound seniors. We have asked nutrition volunteers to take a break for their safety and the safety of our clients, but could use approximately 20 volunteers who are willing to become phone friends to seniors. Each phone friend must agree to take approx. 10 seniors and agree to call them twice a week for companionship and safety. Anyone willing can email Cathy Coleman at ccoleman@kafasi.org
Last week alone we distributed 2,500 meals to seniors. We are asking anyone who can to donate $26.25 to support a week of lunches for a senior.
